Every month in my membership, The Light House, we focus on a theme. A recent theme that has been holding my attention and supporting my goals is synergy.
I believe everyone's life, dreams, and purpose could benefit from a deeper dive into more synergy... So, I wanted to share more on this in hopes that it provides some fuel for your intentions.
Being a word junky, here's the definition and root:
Synergy: the combined power or interaction of elements working together to achieve a greater outcome than if they worked individually.
The word is derived from Greek synergos, meaning "working together".
Wayyyyy back in the days when I was in the staffing and recruiting industry (1992-2008), I spoke about synergy a lot. I worked with many people who were in transition. They were seeking a new position, looking to get a better position, or even changing career tracks.
My message to them was always "get your synergy on."
In that context, it was about updating a resume and having multiple conversations about your search with previous co-workers, potential references, and friends. It was about submitting resumes with custom cover letters, follow-up notes, interview preparation, research on companies or negotiation, thank you notes, and, of course, prayer for guidance and faith along the way.
These actions created momentum that extended not only into the real world but also into the individual's inner mind, heart, and soul.
I even had a cool checklist and point system for candidates to use that helped them stay focused and accountable. It was a very effective tool for them.
This type of "synergy system" can apply to any intention or goal you may have. So, I wanted to share a few tips relevant to the same idea so you can apply them towards your own intentions.
They are loosely in order of priority.
1/ Get clear on your goal or intention. You can't achieve a goal you cannot see.
2/ Imagine full fruition in the present tense. This is mind and soul work. If you enjoy vision boards, they fit well here. This sets the stage for the momentum to begin and can be done as often as you like. Just close your eyes and feel, see, or know you are there.
3/ Talk about it! Have a conversation about your goal or intention with a few friends, a mentor, a therapist, or a coach.
4/ Make a plan. One thought here is to have a chat with the Divine or your own Future Self in a meditation about guidance and next steps. If you are a list-maker, write down the necessary action steps that will add further progress towards your vision.
5/ Take action! Prioritize the steps that need to be taken and then take ONE step. Then two. Then three. And keep going. Momentum breeds momentum. Some need a timeline, some just allow time to do what it does. You do you.
6/ Create your "sphere of Influence." Find others with similar intentions or goals. This one may sneak up on you. The Universe is like that. One action you can take is to find groups, online or in person, with others who will relate. If you have taken steps 1 through 5, I promise this will manifest.
7/ Let go. This can mean two things (and likely means both). It can mean trusting your wings to take flight. Or it can mean allowing some old doors to close so new ones can open. Be aware that sometimes familiarity, even if it keeps us stuck or stagnant, can be comfortable. Growth is OUTSIDE of your comfort zone... Let go. Trust and honor yourself and your dreams.
If you are ready for some momentum and would like help with creating your synergy system, I'd be honored to help light the way!
